Now & the lab

What I'm building — and testing.

A living studio: this part changes as projects ship and experiments teach me something.

#015Web · Done

Base64 Asset Bloat

Learned: A single embedded image can 30x an HTML file's size — always ship binary assets separately, never inline.

#014Web · Done

P2P Multiplayer for RPS

Learned: Two players who are both online at once barely need a server at all — a direct peer connection is enough.

#013Web · Done

Cipher Machine Simulators

Learned: Rotor-stepping logic is the entire trick to a working Enigma sim — everything else is just UI around it.

#012Web · Done

Icon System Without Images

Learned: Ten hand-built inline SVGs load faster and theme easier than any icon font or image sprite.

#011Web · Done

Offline-First PWA

Learned: A service worker makes "works with no signal" a real, testable claim instead of a nice-to-have.

#010Web · Active

Shared Hosting Quirks

Learned: Free hosts can silently drop oversized files during extraction — always verify what actually made it to the server.

Code

Built, not just presented.

Source, experiments and the technical pieces behind everything on this site.

About

Hi, I'm Makan.

I'm MAKAN — I build Android apps and web tools, mostly solo, mostly at night.

I like software that does one thing well: fast to open, honest about what it does, and built without unnecessary dependencies. Most of what's on this site started as a problem I wanted solved for myself first — a conversion I needed, a cipher I wanted to understand, a game I wanted to finish.
